Okay, have finally absolutely decided to get a firemouth for my thirty gallon. I just wanted to know...

1. Is it okay if the fire gets to eat live guppies? I'll be using them for the pictus, but I figure the fire would probably start after them too.

2. Any special sort of cichlid food I should get for it? I know some need more of one thing than another and wanted to know what was best.

3. Is there anything else that could go in this tank that wouldn't end up as food? I'm not sure exactly how big they would have to be not to get eaten by my pictus once it's full sized, but I'm thinking around three inches. I don't know how big they would have to be not to get eaten by the fire...

Well, that's all I can think of for now, so thanks for anything you can tell me!

1. It will love guppies

2. A good staple cichlid pellet will do. I use Hikari cichlid complete along with vegtable and frozen food.

3. 2 more pictus would be ok. ;)

welcome to the darkside.....

once you join you never go back :fun:

A school of larger, tougher tetra will do well with your Firemouth. Congo's, for example, would be quite safe from both catfish and firemouths.
