Hey guys I am new to these forums and I was just wondering how long I'd have to wait until I could get a Betta?

Because I went into Pets At Home, and the lady in there said I shouldn't get one for 3 months!

Thanks in advance,

Sam

Well it would be as soon as you can get tank, heater, substrate, filter and plants and get it cycled! Cycling is the important part and if you have other tanks or friends with tanks, it is a lot quicker. If someone can fill your filter completely with mature media from their mature tanks (established) then it is a cloning and almost instant ready. :)

LFS's will often do this. I am doing it for my 16 bow!

Okay thanks guys, the only fish I have in there at the moment are 5 cherry barbs, so I'll just keep checking the water and everything to see if it's all fine. Thanks for the advise

Well the cherry barbs were in the same tank as the Siamese Fighting Fish and it seemed fine, plus the tank they were in is smaller than mine.

cherry barbs are a very bad choice of fish for a betta they can turn very quickly and rip his fins to bits so unless you can watch the tank constantly i would move him or get a divided

cos the tank must be quite big to have the cherry barbs in
