So I made a deal with my dad and as long as i basically water the garden/plants for the rest of my life :sarcasm: he will get me a 55 gallon tank for my room, but, I have to get rid of my 29 gallon and my 10, and he wants to get rid of my 2.5 gallon too but its a betta, so hes gotta stay seperate. Anyways, I need to make sure these fish will all do good together in a 55.

What I have left as of today:

1 common plec, 4 corys, 1 platy, 3 neon tetras, 3 black neon tetras, 2 german blue rams, 6 skirt tetras, and 1 african butterfly fish. Well, due to my tank size (29 gallon) I was forced to bring my plec to the lfs and I am determined to get him back. So my mom told my dad I was in tears when I had to bring him to the store and he decided to make that deal with me. Annnyyways, any advice? Oh and my ABF is very tame, never bothers any of the other fish (my biggest worry with this new tank is the neons and the abf i guess)

should be fine i think but i have to say i dont kno much about ABF's.

the common plec can grow up to 2 foot so will still need rehoming eventually.

i still think you should get him back and then when he grows use this place to find him a new home.

chances are at the LFS they will jus sell it to someone with a small tank again.

No, this lfs owner is my dads friend, hes takin care of him til I can get the 55. The thing is, every site i went to said 55 gallon min. for the common plec, and won't need a bigger tank after the 55.

well to be honest they reach about 10"-12" fairly quick (couple of years a lil less) if given the space.

and they tend to slow down after that but commons reach 18" plus which is wider than a normal 55G i think.

oh and thats kewl about your dads friend.

Yea hes already about 8 inches, i got him from walmart when he was about the size of a dime, dont remember how long ago that was.

That mixture sounds alright for such a decent sized aquarium IMO..

..I had a common pleco reach a foot in a 30 gallon tank, he seemed fine, but obviously was too big for the tank. They just seem to chill out and eat everything as they get bigger, not really needing much massive amounts of swimming space. I just wish I could stop my current common plec from growing anymore, he's perfect the way he is atm :/

now i just need to find a 55 gallon for cheap, what do you all think is the best brand? All my tanks are all-glass aquariums.
