I'm getting a 10 Gallon hex this weekend (im positive i will) I wanted to get cichlid fishys to put in it. What are some cichlids that will stay on the smaller side and will be good in pairs?

I only want 2 fish for it.

Um..........I just say Rams.BUT dont back me in this one

How about turning it into a Betta Home?

1 Male Betta
a school of corys and Ottos? with White clouds

imo not good for any cichlid. need a larger footprint than a hex can give. also 10 is on the small side for cichlids.

yellow and black, some w/blue for the shells. Just copy the name and [aste it in google images to see what they look like.

Personally Id go with Rams and a shoal of tetras or corries. Maybe both. Though it minght not be good for a hex.

shell dwelers can live in 10's.
Yep, but does "hex tank" be rectangle or 6-angles? If it's normal rectangle, 10-15gallon tank, then it's ok for few small shell dwellers (Neolamprologus multifasciatus). (carnivores)

Before bying those fish, read more about having tanganyika tank and "how to make water good for those fish". Water in lake of Tanganyika is exceptional.

I agree. I think the footprint is too small for any cichlid.

this is a terrible idea for a 10 gallon hex. you would need atleast 6 tetras to make them feel comfortable, any less and there is a chance for aggression. you will also need to provide vegetation or coks for hiding places for them too. a group of corries which would be about 5. could get away with 2 females and 1 male which will occupy the bottom of the tank. and then a pair of rams? that is one crowded little 10 gallon or hex.

i was talking about a rectangle.

btw what does your name mean? I saw it on a bumper sticker yesturday.

still would be too much for a 10 gallon either way.

semper fi is short for semper fidelis. it is the u.s. marine corps motto. semper fidelis is latin for "always faithful".

ok change of plan :) i found the most coolest deal! That hex was off the sale and put back to 159.99 and there was this box in the corner i asked how much it was the guy asked the manaer and she said she didnt know and gave me a price. 99.95 I asked what was in it she didn't know so i looked at it and i instantly said "I'll take it" omg it was the best deal!

!29 gallon tank set up!
1 whisper 30 gallon filter
2 boxes of water cleaning solution stuff
1 thing of tropical food
1 submersable 100watt heater
1 little net :)
and a fish keeping book

Is that a good deal or what!

ill show you the little baby im bringing home tomarow night

where are you at? did i read right that this is a 29 set up?

you can get the same set up with a stand for about 60.00 in michigan. i would check out other prices to make sure you are getting a good deal. different areas of the country vary so it is hard to say if it is a good deal or not
