I am getting 5 mollies for a 5 gallon tank and is there any way to tell a gender before it has fry???

5 gallons is too small for molly's as for sexing use this

purple shows the females anal fin
red shows where the gravid spot will be which is where the fry are until born
blue is the males gonopodium

what variety of molly were you thinking of?

yes unless kept in groups of 5 or 2/3 females each, but as i said before 5 gal is too small for molies

I have 2 five gallons though

Still too small. Mollys grow too large (3-4inches on average) and are far too active to be kept in a 5gallon, i would advise a 12-15gallon long tank minimum for keeping mollys in.
You could fit a trio of endlers or guppys in such a tank though depending on their genders (personally i would advise an all-female group of guppys or endlers).

I need help on choosing??? balloon Mollies or black mollies. I can not decide and I was wondering can you mix them together?

You can mix them together, but like Tokis-Phoenix said, 5 gallons is too small even for one Molly. It's not that they won't "fit" but they won't have enough room to swim. It's like living your life in a walk-in closet.

I keep mollys and three of them are in a 100L tank...I wouldn't put them in anything smaller than a 60L. Your 25L tank is just way way way too small for mollys, plus they require salt to remain healthy and you can make serious mistakes with a 25L and salt addition if you are not careful.

I'd go for a betta if I were you or some small fish. When mollys have fry they really have fry!! You may find yourself dangerously overstocked when a female has a batch of fry one morning!!

And remember if you are getting females there is a high chance that they have already mated with a male in the pet store and will give birth to fry for the following 6 to 8 months without a male in the tank with her. If you want to avoid getting fry you can only go for 1 male...if you get 2 males they will fight, mine did and I had to buy a tank just to seperate them!!!

Do yourself and the fish a favour and reconsider the fish you are going to get, its not nice to look at an overstocked tank that is not relaxing, and this also hightens the chances of disease breaking out.

I agree with the others that it is too small... please follow the advice :) I would suggest another betta as previously stated... I think 5 gallons is too small for most fish.
