Ive had my full grown male German blue ram for a while and last week i bought myself a little female one for him. She's only about an inch or so long so she's still a youngen (and EXTREMELY cute btw!!!)

Anyway so when i first put her in the tank she settled in very well, much quicker than i thought she would. The male eventually noticed her and kinda chased her a bit...nothing really aggressive though...she seemed a little afraid of him lol.

As of a few days ago she's brightened up A LOT and whenever the male comes near her she kind of goes into a vertical position with her head down and sorta dances around in front of him. Sometimes he goes over to her and nudges her with his head or he swims away and she follows him.

So just out of curiosity what sort of behaviour am i seeing? Is this normal or could it lead to....other things :shifty: :p

Thanks!

Thats normal pairing behaviour, you should over the next days-weeks notice the girls tummy turn pink (if it isnt already) then become brighter and a little plumper. From here they pick a spot, this can be an excavated hole in the substrate or a rock or similar. The first signs are they start picking at/cleaning the rock - this usually happens for a 1/2 hour to a few hours (if creating a hole this can take days) then the spawning begins...

I thought it could have been something like that but i didnt think she would be mature enough yet because she is so little.

Anyways thanks for that!
