Sometime yesterday evening, 2 of my rams spawned.
I had noticed a pair had formed and were protecting a side of the tank.

I left for the evening and when I cam back, they had dug out a pit and cleaned off a rock which was now full of tiny eggs. Having no way to feed them, I decided to let them be and see what would happen.

this morning, the eggs are gone and the pit they had dug was filled up. the rock they spawned on in that pit was nearly all covered up in sand.

the pair still looks good but they don't swim as closely as they did yesterday, I'm assuming this is normal.

I believe the fish that ate the eggs is my big pleco as, at 14 inches, would easily beat the rams up if he wanted to.

Next time they spawn, I plan on removing the rock where they spawned to a 10 gallon tank i have. I have a spare sponge filter I can use and I will seed it immediately. I also have airstones to keep the eggs clean until they hatch.
I will set the tank temperature to 29 degrees and fill it up with water from my big tank.

I plan on feeding infusoria as microworms are usually unavailable here. Infusoria is also quick and clean to culture. If they do well I will hatch BBS which I can order and receive within 2-3 days

My questions:
How often to they spawn?
Is it likely they will spawn again?
do the offspring have a good chance of surviving in a dedicated tank?

I plan on raising them and trading them to the LFS as they always carry them and advertise locally bred fish.

Yep your Pleco prob had the eggs
