Hi I'm not sure if I have a problem or not so I thought I'd ask here rather than the post graveyard that is the emergencies section :hey:

Last couple of nights I've noticed one of the GBR flicking itself into the leaves of my amazon swords as it swims through, It doesn't flick off the glass nor does it do it off any solid objects It also is not rubbing itself against anything. The flicking is fairly rare I can sit and watch them for 30 minutes and be lucky to see it once.

I'm going to up my water changes a little to ensure the water stays clean as can be but my Ammonia and Nitrite are always 0 and my nitrate never goes above 20. PH with the bogwood in sits around 7.2 and is 7.4 from the tap. Tank temp is 27 deg.

Thanks. LOL. We try are best.

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
What the make of the test kit you are using.

Does the fish show any of these signs.

Darting, erratic swimming.
Laboured breathing or gasping.
Excess mucas or slime on body or gills.
Red prick marks, or red sores on the fish.
What does it look like when the fish go to the toilet.
Are the gills red inflamed, or pale with excess slime.
Is there a greyish or blueish white film on the fish.
Any rusty coloured varnish on the fish, or gold dusting.
Any tiny white grains spots on the fish.
Can you see any moving objects on the fish.

Added any new fish, plants, or ornaments to the tank in the last week or two.
Have you changed declorinator.
Has temp risen or gone down.

Thanks for the reply Wilder I meant it more tongue in cheek than anything the only other topic I posted in emergencies got 1 reply in a week with daily bumping. I didn't post this here originally as I didn't want people with urgent issues to be pushed down by my speculative enquiry. But seeing as I'm here I welcome any and all comments with open arms !

Tank is Fluvan Roma 240 L

8 Corydoras
6 Khuli Loaches
12 Diamond Tetras
12 Silvertip Tetra
6 Golden Wonder Killie (1 Male 5 Female)

API Masterkit

Does the fish show any of these signs.

Darting, erratic swimming. - Not really occaisionally they might dart through a plant but thats about it Most of the time they swim in and around the plants or at the front of the tank.
Laboured breathing or gasping. - No

Excess mucas or slime on body or gills. Not that I can see.

Red prick marks, or red sores on the fish. - No

What does it look like when the fish go to the toilet. - Only actually seen the rams poo once and it was like a bit of string hanging from the anal area which dropped off when the fish started swimming.

Are the gills red inflamed, or pale with excess slime. - No they look exactly like they did the day they were added (well in so far as I can tell)

Is there a greyish or blueish white film on the fish. No

Any rusty coloured varnish on the fish, or gold dusting. Doesn't appear so

Any tiny white grains spots on the fish. - No

Can you see any moving objects on the fish. - No

Added any new fish, plants, or ornaments to the tank in the last week or two. Only the rams have been added in last 2 weeks the killies were 2 weeks before that.
Have you changed declorinator. Yes from Nutrafin to Seachem Prime but this was about a month or 5 weeks ago.

Has temp risen or gone down. Temp in tank drops by about 0.4 when lights are not on but its always in the 26.6 - 27 deg range.

The flicking seems to be almost always as they swim through my large Amazon Sword never anywhere else and maybe once or twice in an hour approx. I'll check them again when I get home in a few hours and update my answers if anything has changed since this morning.

I do have Melafix that I used when my betta was a lil poorly would it be advisable to use this as a general treatment initially until I can more specifically identify the issue ? (If there is one)

My Leopard Cories do this... Sometimes I'll have 3 or 4 doing it in the same plant at the same time!

They're fine, healthy and growing well..... Maybe they're just having a scratch?! lol

At the moment I don't see any problems.
If any changes get back to the board.

Keep a close look out for when your fish go to the toilet.

Feed them some shelled peas to see if that clears the long stringy white waste up.
