I recently bought a pair of GBR's and im waiting for them to spawn i know im well ahead of myself but i might aswell ask now for future reference. I know theyre supposed to be good parents but it may take a few tries but if it comes to me needing to take the eggs out and put them in a breeding net/trap then how do i do it and do i place the parents in there too?

suck the eggs up with a siphon hose using you mouth and no dont put the parents in they usually eat the eggs

Also i know that rams pair off but if one that was part of a pair was bought from the fish shop along with another that wasnt from that pair would they pair off and breed or would it be a lost cause

i think they tend to pair regardless of being from different tanks..
if a female was in a tank with more than one male she would choose the male that seemed more appealing but if there only one she has no choice..
just put the pair in a tank on there on provide a air pump with air stone.
try have very low light in the tank as well

i have rams from 2 different shops and they just spawned

ok cool cheers at the moment they are in the main tank with a whole host of different fish so i will give it a month or so and see if they spawn if not then i will put them in the breeding tank because the fry in there should be big enough to go in the main tank or big enough to give away. then ill see how they get on.
