German Blue Ram And Dwarf Cockatoo Cichlids

I've 2 rams in a 2.5ft planted tank. Would it be possible to put dwarf cockatoo cichlids with them. Would the tank be to samll. The main thing i'm thinking though is aggression. I've done a little research , water qualitys fine etc, but was just after some advice, anyone with experience.

If there are plenty of hiding areas and enough room for territories then it might work out fine, but im not guaranteeing it will be. I tried to have a pair of Blue rams and a pair of Cockatoo Apitogramma in one tank and didn't work, i had to move the Rams. There were daily border skirmishes and all out head on battles and displays.

I never had luck h cockatoo's but of course the only ones avalible were a half inch at the biggest.
