Hi, i'v recently become fascinated by these little wonders and want to get into breeding them... :)
I currently have a jewel rekord 70 and have a 2ft cube on the way... (hopefully) :)
The 2ft cube is going to be used for dwarf cichlid breeding...so I was wondering since (I'v been told that killies eat thier eggs and fry) should I use the 70 as a breeding and raising tank and keep the adults in the cube once they spawn...

That would work given that the cichlids you want to breed in the 2ft cube are not overly aggressive. It is not, of course, as simple as take the parents out and you have fry, but the general idea is feasible and should work well :)

With killi's you need then in species tanks.

So you idearly will only have one species, garneri are easy to keep and breeding it okish, but the best thing is the water tollerant and the eggs are easy to hatch.

All you need is 4-5 fish, java moss and/or spawning mops. feed then on lots of live foods and chech the moss/mops daily and then crop the eggs.

place them in a small tub and watch then hatch in few days rear the fry away as their very small for 10 days in tubs and the once 5-6mm you can mix them in the rearing tank(cube)

foods.
micro worm
micro ells
as first foods

then onto newly hatched brine shrimp

once large enough onto daphone and mosquito larve

they may take flake later in life but your not raise fry on it.

Hi,

Were you looking at a specific species, if so what were they....

A lot of killifish species fry can be left in the breeding tank if the parents are well fed then they will not bother the fry to a lesser degree.
If you get things absolutely spot on as far a water conditions are concerned then you are going to end up with a great number of fry (wanted or unwanted)
I would sub-divide the cube for the killifish keep the adults in one section and lift the whole spawning mop (hopefully full of eggs) into a large margarine tub floating in the second section for hatching.
You will need to have foods at the ready for the fry. Keep your fry tubs clean.
Then you can utilise the second section of your tank for rearing the fry to a decent size. (more tanks will appear.... fact)
