what is the minimum tank size for a pair of gbrs? i have fallen in love with them and would like to purchase a pair, but need to do all my homework on them first!

i have a 16 gallon. would that be any good or is that too small? have just been reading about a pair in a 20gallon with platys, endlers and mollys, would a 16 suffice if they were alone?

i have a 180L too that they could go in but i worry they may not get along with some of the fish?
i understand they need pristine water, but what temp is a must for them as my community tank is at 24 degrees

thanks :)

Hey spish, you should get away with a single pair (1m,1f) in a 16g, the recommended is 20g but 4g doesnt make a whole lotta difference. Alone would be best especially if you can get a breeding pair.

Lots of plants, wood, caves is best for decor, sand or gravel your preference on that one. Some flat rocks is also a good idea as they like to spawn on rocks.

Water does need to excellent, 0 amm and nitrI obviously, nitrA as low as possible, preferably under 20ppm, ph 6.6 - 7.8, some sites will say 7.4 max, but mine were fine in 7.8 with no problems at all, although the softer is preferred especially if you want them to spawn.

Temp 26-28. Will eat, flake, pellet, relish live and frozen.

What fish do you have in the 180L?

fantastic! thanks for the info!
in the 180 there are cardinal, emperor, h+t light tetras, angels, zebras, platys, killis, plecs, banjo catfish, kuhli loach, mollys.
my only other option would be to put them in with the oscars, but thats just asking for trouble!

so i shall prep the 16 gal (was meant to be selling it but had no interest so i may as well use it!)
