I have a male and female GBR in my 80L. Temp is around 27degrees celcius at the moment. Other tank mates include Pictus Catfish, Angel, four khuli loaches, two Borneo Suckers (who I haven't seen in a while) and an Apple Snail (Gary).

Now, I know they like 30degree heat however obviously with the tankmates I can't have it that warm and I can't shift anyone around. I doubt the two fish I have is a pair as the female never seems interested in the male. So can someone tell me why every so often she gets a very bright red belly and her breeding tube is present...like now? Unless she's showing interest in him when the lights are off, she just swims away when he comes close. She has also got a bit of an agression problem at the moment :p

I don't expect that they will breed or even be able to raise fry in the tank I have. I just want to know what's going on with her

Congrats :good: :good: , now the hard part raising the fry. Good luck

Fingers crossed they survive...every so often they both leave the eggs and then it's as if the male realises the female has left as well (he's a better carer then her so far) and nips her as if telling her off  I read somewhere today not to have snails in with them if they have eggs...I just fed them so both parents left the eggs and my apple snail was making a bee line for the eggs - no idea if he would've eaten them or not but he's been shifted to the cory tank :look:
