gasping fish and cloudy water

Could someone tell me why my fish are gasping so quick, the water has become cloudy (white) this morning, i have done a couple of water changes today. one of the smaller fish has dies. is there anything else i can do

How long has the tank been set up, how big is the tank, what fish and which type, cloudy water can be a bacteria bloom, sounds like you have high nitrites, can you post water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph.

Hi we have no testers for nitrite, the tank is 3 months old and it is around 20 gallon. We have
2 angels
a gourami
6 neons
2 frogs
1 clown loach
balloon molly

Tank is not big enough for the angel and clown loaches how big are they as it sounds like your filter isn't coping with the fish in the tank, do some water changes you will have high nitrites, I would get your water tested quick and ask them to write the results down for you.

Sia..sounds like your tank is at or close to being overstocked. You MUST test your parameters on a regular basis if you expect to keep your inhabitants alive and well. Many people recommend testing once a week. People here will be able to help you if you can post your pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels. Aquarium Pharmaceuticals makes a nice test kit and it is available online for $12-16 dollars. Good luck. SH
