Well, you could easily keep him in anything that is one gallon or more, a bowl, huge jar, vase (with no plant please) or even old coffee pots (cleaned out well) Bettas have been acclimated to 100% changes, and for a one gallon bowl it will need changing at least once a week. And if the bowl is in a room where the temp stays consistantly above 67% there is no issue. Good luck if you decide to get a betta, remember, the bigger the better when it comes to housing, heat it if you can, even a 5 gallon heater in a one gallon set extremely low. Filters CAN work, just kill the current with those bottle current killers, it is pinned in the betta section. A minibow might be a nice option for you, but they are pricey.houndour said:I've been thinking about getting a betta tank, but I have 2 problems...
I can't find a tank, or container to fit on the fireplace (the only place I have room for a second tank) and I'm still deciding on whether its right to have a small tank that is never cycled and do 100% water changes, or to have a tank with a filter and risk having an unhappy betta cos of the current.
I know. That what I dont like about my bettas.I'm still deciding on whether its right to have a small tank that is never cycled and do 100% water changes, or to have a tank with a filter and risk having an unhappy betta cos of the current.
We don't get those kind of things in the UK. I need to decide between a bowl or a 5 gallon tank and stick a filter in.What I've decided next time I get a betta tank is get a 2.5G bowfront starter kit, and keep the filter.
