Planning on making a spray bar for my 5ft tank, the bar will be 3-4ft long and made from pvc piping.

Has anyone ever made one for a fx5? if so what diameter outlet holes did you use. I don't want it to become a jet but then I don't want to have it trickling out.

i made one for my ehiem powerhead, i used a 4mm drill bit and started with 4 holes and drilled more on even spacing until you get the output you want.
hope this helps

Thanks for that, I was thinking around the 4mm mark aswell lol.
Hopefully when I make it it doesn't end up being a jet, or a trickle.

no worries best of luck,
it took a couple attempts because i went all gung ho first and drilled far too many holes lol.
all the best

Well got my stuff yesterday, 22mm x 2m pipe and 2 90degree bends. Filter hoses fit snug onto the 90degree bends.

Blocked one end of the tube off, straight line down the whole length and then drilled a 4mm hole every inch.

Works perfect, not too powerful and not a trickle.....Bargain for under £5

Perfect. Glad it all worked for you. Nice to know I'm useful occasionally lol

Been having trouble with photobucket for some reason, sorted now.
Spray bar, holes drilled 1" apart with a 4mm drill piece, suction cupped to the middle brace for some support. 90degree bend fit very snug into the outlet hose, If I had the original rubber ends for the hose I would of jubilee clipped it on but tbh this way is fine.
Only problem im having atm is even though the holes are drilled straight down, the water comes out at an angle.

maybe from the turbulence caused from hitting the end of the tube perhaps?

Possibly, im going to fit a diy inline co2 soon and then t piece the spray bar in the centre, should technically make the spray straight or 2 the sides.

Either way its doing a cracking job atm and because I haven't glued the bend to the pipe I can rotate the bar and adjust how much it breaks the water.
