Hi i have recently bought a female dwarf gourami as a mate for my male. I got her on monday. since then she has stayed hidden at the bottom of the tank and has not been eating. today i noticed she has a swollen eye that looks all white and fuzzy it looks horrible!! i am currently treating my tank for ich as i noticed a few have white spot.

Any ideas what is wrong with her?? and what should i do??

Many thanks in anticipation..... x.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Is the eye bulging out.
You can't mix meds so I would see if the whitespot med helps clear it up.What whitespot med are you using.

Its 68L amm - 0 nitrite - 0 nitrate - 40 which i know is high but dont want to do water change until finished treatment (protozin).

I have 3 mollies 6 guppies and 2 gouramis.

It is bulging slightly but that is a viscousy cloudyish film over the eye, its difficult to see as she has her good eye to me!!

any ideas?

x

Ok.
You can't mix meds with waterlife products.
See if the ich med helps.
If you do have to preform a water change during a med course, you just add the correct amount of med back to water removed.

Thankyou il see how it goes. iv increased temp to 80 and added some salt also. just wish i knew what on earth it is i'v never seen anything like it before. Also my male gourami has shown no interest in her whatsoever!

Swollen eyes can be a number of things.
injury, bacterial, parasites, bad water quality.
