Can anyone please help me with my fuzz algea problem

I think its fuzz algea anyways.

It grows in seperate tiny strands that are light green color. They are all on the glass, on the wood, and on the plants. Its all tangled in my riccia too!!!
(but in the riccia it forms something like patches of hair.

Help me. I have High lighting but my CO2 levels are not high at all. I run a DIY CO2 unit for the 112L and the bubbles do run up the hagen ladder and it dissolves to be very small CO2 bubbles at the top, but the total CO2 level jus aint high enought. Is it becos my kH is too high for sufficient CO2 to dissolve? my kH is at 9.

How can i combat the fuzz algea? I was thinkin i might just use Algea killer chemicals...which i would hate to use cos i have heard bad things about them.

Help

gf? plant pro? anyone? :/

Did you find proper yeast to use with the DIY mix for the co2, what level of co2 are you achieveing? if you are running a highlight tank you have to be achieving 30ppm co2 or you will have problems.

The problem is with the DIY mix not generating enough co2 nothing to do with the Kh of the water.

Are you only useing the the pre bought satchets?

no... i couldnt find proper yeast for the DIY project so i went and bought the "hagen activator and stuff" set... cost me so much more than what wouldve cost me for a pack of yeast... if only they sold it.

So if i understand correctly i will have to use more CO2 units??

can i add one more DIY CO2 unit to the already running system (one hagen ladder) or will I have to buy another Hagen ladder unit as well?

thanks. i will add my CO2 reading after i find that chart...

edit- with a ph of 7.6 and a kH of 9 my CO2 level is a mere 5.9 waaaay too low.
i am now certain i need another CO2 unit

Just try and find yeast, did you look in home brew shops as Lateral Line advised, thats all you have to do find proper yeast, there is no point in adding another unit if the amount of co2 it will give out will not be adequate.....you will need several if that is the case, are there no fish forums in Poland where you could ask? others must have this problem also.

And dont buy any more of the satchets they are a waste of money because they dont give off enough co2, for the moment i would reduce the amount of light you have over the tank until you solve this problem.

cheers zig.

I have been to over 30+ shops now asking fo dry yeast, but none has it. Theyve only got instant dry which i tried and the CO2 died of very fast, within 1-2 days. They have also got block yeast...yeast that comes in a block, which does produce CO2 but very very little. I havnt tried adding more of that block yeast into the bottle tho.

If there was a Polish Fish forum i would not know cos its probably in Polish. I dont understand Polish.

I have called my sister in Australia to send me some yeast. BREWERS yeast! that shud HOPEFULLY get here in around a weeks time.

I have also spoken to a very friendly staff in my LFS. He keeps large cichlids of some kind. We spoke about our favourite fish and all but his english is limited. Anyways, he is gonna ask his friend who keeps planted tanks where he got his dry yeast from as he also runs a DIY CO2 unit.

I shall turn off most of the light in my tank for the meanwhile until i get yeast from australia or i get directions as to where the DO sell dry and not instant yeast in Poland.

Thanks
