well i need to telll you alll something!! :D my favorite female is pregnant! an i need to know something. how do i keep the babys from being sucked into the filter.

is a clump of java moss an a couple random silk plants around the tank good enought for them to hide. cuz im going to do survile of the fittest to avoid a potently over stalked talkright off the bat.

any ideas what the fry will look like. all the males(sence i dont know who it was) are completly black with some blue on the fins an some BRIGHT green on the sides of the body an mommy looks like a normal fancy female. brownish body skecks on tail an white on tail.

oh ya. an the lady at the pet shop(not where i got the guppys)said if the fry turn out good looking she would like to buy then for 50 cents each to add another generation to her line.

*edit*
an how long is the gestation period(wooo big word for me :D) of a gupyy?

Congrats! To keep the fry from being sucked in the filter, you can put a breeder net or Pantyhose over the intake part, or put a small piece of sponge in there. If you search on the forums, there are lots of threads on this and you can see what other people have done. :)

It's hard to say what they will look like, since you don't know the hidden traits, but they'll probably have some black and blue, at least on the males. The females will probably look a lot like their mother, maybe a little blue on the tails.

And I'd get more Java Moss, unless the silk plants are pretty dense. Fry need tiny places to hide where the adults won't get, if you want any to survive.

Gestation period is usually about 4 weeks, but it can be up to 6 weeks.

i prolly one be able to get javamoss for another week cuz im not about to spend money on it when the ponds out at my grandmums are over flowing with it. just put 5 grass carp in the worst one. 3 in the second worse one an 1 in the pond close to the house.

Congratulations Alix. That's so cool! Keep us updated and send pictures when the little beauties arrive!! xxx

They will all look like the parents but a little off

Uh...sorry, but I don't find that to be true. I have gotten blue fry out of orange males and yellow females. That's not a "little off". They usually look somewhat like the parents, but it depends on their ancestors, and their hidden or recessive traits.

Lol, no need to apologise. Just adding in my experience. If you ment Grandparents and back, then you are absolutely correct. :)

is this unusaul, one of my females back looks like its been nibbled. so i watch for about 20min(seriously WATCHED) an none of my guppys are agresive in any way i saw. an the only other fish i have in there are about 1'' long otos.

temp is 76. alkaline - pH 7.5-8 nitrite .5(or close), nitrate .5(or 0) an im not sure about ammonia

Your nitrite should always be zero, so I'd so a water change to get that down. And can you describe it more? Are scales missing? Red? Inflammed? Fungusy? Is she looking pineconed? Anything you can describe would be good...
