Morning, I noticed last night on my fattest pregnant molly who im expecting to drop anytime last week that her poo was like a clear string with some white bits in it? and this morning one of my new plty's also female, and also pregnant, had the same kinda poo?

does this mean anything? is it a pre labour sign?

thanks
Stu

White stringy poo can mean some kind of intestinal parasite. I'd try and clear the gut out naturally. feed shelled defrosted peas, see if it gets them going. Otherwise start on a suitable med. Can't think of one off the top of my head for internal parasites, try posting this problem in tropical fish emergencies. Good luck!

I second the prognosis of internal parasites. Pimafix is what you are looking for here. Just be aware that a lot of meds are colored and will stain decorations or silicon in your tank. You probably don't want to dose all the fish if it's only one of the fish with the symptoms. This is another reason why people keep quarantine tanks.

lol my quarantine tank so far has been a bit of a half way home, first it had fry in it, they died (except 2) then it had 3 corys in to keep it cycled, now it has my RTBS in it lol oh well, will do some water changes, feed some peas and treat whole main tnk with pimafix, a few of them seem to have it now. Thanks all

Thanks for that, couldn't think of the name of the waterlife med, interpet do an anti internal bacterial med, but i don't think that's effective if it is parasites you're dealing with.

Does the size of the poo look the same size as normal or it it as thin as a strand of cotton?
My female guppy had the same sort of problem!
