When my female betta is near the surface of the tank near the light it is a sort of metalic blue colour, but when its near the bottom (still light but slightly further away from the light, around 10cm further than before) it is a sort of purpley colour, why is this??

the blue colour (i dont have a pic of her purple):

It's just the iridescence on her scales. :) She's a very pretty girl!

It most likely not to do with her but light it's self. I don't know how much you know about light-
it's made up of different colours when it hits water blue light is reflected more than any of the others (hence why water appears blue) so further away from the light there will be less blue for your betta to reflect so she appears purple. If you look at her picture here she's a bit on the purple side so if you take away the blue your left with the purple.

Sorry if thats a bit fumbled but it's hard to explain in writing. hopefully it makes sence.

My girl Luna is like that she is all white in regular lighting but when I take pictures or she's in the sunlight she is white with blue and red ire decent coloring

I have a couple of girls who seem to be a different colour when they're in different parts of the tank.
They go from red to purple & blue to green

Yeh slushy is like this his outta fins are white but depending on where and what light is in the tank he goes purply blue
