Night before last i went away for a night and when i came home lastnight all 10 of my neons were ok no signs of anything wrong. Then lastnight while i was still up i saw one looking very dead. then thismorning theres another 2 dead. I looked at the remaining 7 and theres about 3 of them with white spots.

I havent got any particualr pH or anything like that set up.

I only just brought them about 4 days ago and their in the tank with the turtle who has no signs of illness and hasnt really taken any notice of the fish at all.

The tank was cleaned the same day as i introduced them.

The tank is about 36inches in lengh, 15 inches wide, 15 inches high with a water debth of 9 inches.

The water heats crept up to about 29oC so i figured my first move should be to remove the dead and turn the heat down a little.

However I have to take the turtles heath into consideration before treating the water with anything.

My newbie guess was that the temps too hot and possibly from reading the decriptions some funky fungus. But im really not sure.....

Not too sure their mostly on their fins i just noticed but from what i can see not all the dead ones even have the spots. So maybe theres more than one thing wrong??

Well i decided to go with the white spot idea since it seemed the most logical problem. Its now been about 20 hrs since the first fish died and i have 6 of the 10 neons left. Moved 5 into a hospital tank as im not sure if the white spot treatment would cause any problems for my turtle but im having trouble getting the last cheeky bugger out of the turtle tank.....

I ended up removing the fish and putting them in a smaller plastic fantastic tank. So that i could treat them quickly while i decided what to do about the turtle tank. But after about 2 hrs it was very apparent that it is not Ich killing my fish and i came to the conclusion that it is bad water being caused by the turtle. So im thinking its back to the lfs today to get a water testing kit and enough filter power for 800L/hr on my about 76Ls of actual water i have in the tank and if that can give me super water!!!

Ok, good luck.

If not it just means spending the money so that they dont need to share a home though im now down to 4 of my original 10. Time to do some serious cycling.

I now have a fish count of zero. However the cleaner and more balanced i can get the water the better for the terrapin so im off to get a testing kit and a bigger filter and see what happens to the water over the next few days. Fish keeping is a good way to tell if the water changes well before any signs of sickness show in the terrapin so im gunna keep trying to house them together.
