Fungus?

hello all
about a week ago I putted a piece of wood in my tank but now it has some black stuff over, I was wondering if this is bad and should I take the wood out before it extends ?? or contaminate the tank

or is this ok to leave it there and snails will eat it.

is this a fungus?? or is this a type of black algae??

Hi,

Looks like Black Hair Aglae to me. I have bits from time-to-time. Just reduce the amount of light each to 8 hours max each day and it should reduce.

I also pull it off whilst cleaning my tank if i can get to it.

well looks like my Great Ramshorn Snail likes to eat the black algae thats the advantage of having snails in your tank

I'm glad I don't have to worry about it
