My fish had Fungus and I treated with 'Fungus Cure'.
The exact directions on the box said to remove carbon filter and add med, wait 2 days and add med again. 2 days after second dose do a 25% water change and put in a NEW carbon filter. Thats all. So now I'm on day 10. The water is still slightly green from med but I noticed that both my lyretail molly and white skirt tetra still have a very small amount of what looks to be white fluff/stuff on their tails. I dont think it ever went away but is still there.

So just to make it clear (since I'm confusing myself now.. ).

1)Took out carbon filter and added first dose of med
2)waited 2 days then added second dose of med (still no carbon filter)
3)waited 2 days, did 25% water change and put new carbon filter in

4)day 10..don't know what to do?!? change more water or add more meds?

The box states that 2 doses are necessary for full treatment (which I did)
but itty bit of white fluffy stuff remains on 2 fish tails. All other fish are A-OK. No signs of any fungus. The fluff on my black mollies lip is even gone. Checked all levels in tank (nitrate/nitrite/pH/ammonia..) All all good.

Eek..! So now what? I emailed the company that manufactures the med but they haven't written back yet.
Want to get new fish but want to clear up this situation first!
I would GREATLY APPRECIATE any advice !! :)

what else could it be?
Look closely at the top of his tail..

ok..so, in desperation, I looked up some info online and maybe I got it all wrong and this is'nt fungus?
The site I looked at says fungus grows very fast and poofs out from the body. It doesn't look like that on my fish I don't think. My black molly had the fungus on his mouth and since treatment it has gone away. This hasn't gotten any worse in the last 10 days. hmmmm...suspicious.

Have you tried posting in the Emergencies forum? Someone there should be able to help you identify the disease.

Good luck!

Columnaris is bacterial so you need to use a bacterial med.

Tried posting in emergencies and no one really responded with any answers!!
The med I gave them said that it treated for secondary bacterial infections ie.columnaris
donno what to do. Am still waiting on a response from the manufacturer of the medicine.
Hope they can help!
Does anyone have any idea what that itty bitty bit of white 'stuff' on his top tail fin is?
Plus why aren't the other fish getting it?
Sooooo frustrating!

For columnaris maracyn one and two.
The med you are using might be gram positive, or gram negative need both with columnaris.

Thanks Wilder! I think you're right and its 'Flex' . Tomorrow I'll purchase a hospital tank and treat the two fish with Maracyn & Maracyn 2. Hopefully that will fix the problem!

Good luck.
