hi all,

new to this forum, but i hope someone can help. In my haste yesterday, i think I may have overdosed my betta on jungle fungus clear! I put in 1/5 of a tablet instead of cutting it in half into a 1 gallon tank at noon, and at 5pm i found her hiding and swimming funny. I quickly changed water to clean water with no medication. by midnight, i found her gasping and lying slightly off center. she would come up for breath swimming normally, but then she'll hover there slowly in a vertical alignment. sometimes she'll sink back down vertically very slowly and rest at the bottom. she won't eat, something is definitely very wrong. what can i do to help her?? is there any hope for recovery?? i've read that vertical floating means kidney failure, is this the case?

Don't know bless her, is she bloated as all i can think of is a epson salt bath,

no, no bloating.. just gasping and hiding and hanging vertically at the surface at times. so far i've gathered it may be her gill function is messed up from the jungle clear overdose.

To be honest there is nothing to be done, she absorbed to much of the med, can you increase aeration for her, maybe add some salt for the stress of it.

hi there, thanks a lot. just an update, she was doing really bad the past few days, but perked up today. she was hiding, lying flat sideways, and panting hard, but today she finally righted herself up and was curious and moving around swimming. i had to put her on 1/2" water level with plastic canvas, and carefully changed water with a cup about three times a day (making sure water level doesn't change too much by pouring water in at the same time slowly) hopefully she'll take to eating tomorrow, she just swam to the food and looked at it today. i guess moral is, don't overdose, but don't give up hope!
