Fungal Infection On One Of My Zebra Danios

I noticed a week ago that one of my Zebra Danios had a small white growth above his mouth. I asked my LFS staff member and he said the fish had probably been nipped and it was because of that it had got a bit of a fungal growth. He said to not medicate and it would go if I continue regular water changes. As i've heard in this forum not all LFS staff are reliable so I thought i'd ask if I should medicate or not?

I would medicate as it definately sounds like a fungal infection. I would treat with Pimafix/Melafix as they are natural products and treat both fungal and bacterial infections.

How bad is the fungus as mouth fungus is columnaris and it soon can rot the mouth away.
Need to look at your stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph.
Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.

The fungas doesn't seem to have got any worse and it isn't impeding the fish from eating. I tested my trenk just this morning and the stats are:

Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 5
PH = approx 7.0, maybe very slightly lower, such as 6.8.

The tank size is 200 litres and I have 8 Danios, 2 3-spot Gouramis and 2 Bristlenose Catfish in it. It's crystal clear and everything seems fine. There is a slight problem with one of my Gouramis, as i've posted in the Gourami section, but I don't think there related.

Thanks for the advice on the products bjmagik. Do I medicate the whole tank and not just quarentine the Danio and medicate him seperatly?

Thanks Wilder. I was hoping you would say that because I have yet to buy and setup a hospital tank, although I do have a second filter running in my tank cycling ready for my hospital tank.
