When I cleaned out my tank 2 weeks ago, one of my cory's swam up the siphon and got stuck. He managed to get out by himself and he looked okay. However, over the last few days he was swimming "on the spot" a lot (at least I believe it is the same one) and when I got home last night, he was next to the inlet of the power filter, not moving an inch. When I managed to have a close look, I observed the following:
He's breathing really fast and his mouth/nose appears a bit red and swollen.
The back of his tail (but not the tailfin) has some white kind of fluffy areas going round (however, it doesn't look like what I've seen described as a "saddle" elsewhere in this forum).
Also, his tail seems a bit crooked and he can't move it easily (maybe his skin got lacerated when trying to get out of the siphon?).
Other signs are lethargy, fins held close to his body, not eating (I guess classic non-specific signs of illness).
Due to circumstances I've not been able to replenish my testkits for the last two weeks so haven't been able to test the water recently and it won't be possible to get to the fishshop until Sunday. As it appeared to be a fungal infection, and the label on my bottle of Protozin said it was also suitable for fungal treatment, I have started a course of Protozin.
I clean my tank every week and do a weekly 15% waterchange. About two weeks ago I replaced my nitrate filter with a new one. All the other fish appear totally healthy.
Can anybody give me some advice please?
My aquarium:
Juwel Rekord-80 tank (80l tank)
8x barbus pentazona
4x corydoras metae
3x colisa chuna
4x amano shrimp
lots of live plants
mopani wood and blue quartz
