Hi all, my tank has been cycled for 5 days now so I am going to get my first fish today. I have a 10 gallon tank with 2 live plants and a cave, nutrafin c02 machine and coral in the filter to raise the KH.

I have just done a 80% water change and added some general tonic, the only airation in the tank is from the filter wahich is on low and is a gentle ripple on the top of the water, not much.

My readings are:

Ammonia = 0ppm
Nitrite = 0ppm
PH = 7.2
KH = 35.8, 2 drops (should I add some baking soda to raise a little until the coral kicks in?)
Nitrate = 10ppm

I am going to get 3 honey gouramis and 2 male guppies I think today.

Are my readings ok before I go??? Anything else i should consider before introducing my fish.

only 5 days? was that with mature media? how long does it take for your bacteria to process 5ppm of ammonia down to 0ppm?

sorry its been about 2 months, but its been complete removing 5ppm ammonia withing 12 hours, its been doing that for 5 days.

ahh ok, when i was researching what i was goihng to stock my tank with, honeys were recomended aswell as guppies.. :) id double check with a more experianced member though

yea they seem nice little hardy fish, just not alot of activity on the forums today lol.

most people will be in work or school/college best to wait untill about 6pm to get fast answers :)

Hey mate, congratulations on getting to the cycled stage :D hehe, took me alot of patience :D

But as far as i know and from the reserach and help ive received on this forum, your stats are perfect if its all going back to 0 in 12 hours or less :) Usually they make us wait 7 days for the "Graduation Period" but i think you will be fine :) But wait for smater people then me heheheh

Not to sure about the PH level with those fish, but im pretty sure they will be fine because i almost got some for mine which is 7.4ph. Apart from that i know that there is some disease gouramis are prone to getting but im sure you already knew that :)

Good luck!

Regards,
Indir

just not quite sure on the kh, its only low at the moment and I know the coral in the filter takes a while for the minerals to dissolve and raise the kh so should I raise it with baking soda to bump it up abit. the dwarf gouramis are the ones prone to internal infections i think the honeys are ok.

Ah sorry mate, my mistake then. Not to sure on the KH though dont understand that myself unfortunately :D

Was just trying ot help you with the cycle hehe.

Goodluck!

Regards,
Indir
