Hi all,

2 of my fish have had fry about 2 1/2 weeks ago,at the minute i have them in a breeding net (the sort that sticks to the side of the tank), how large do they have to be before i can put them back into my tank properly. I've got about 20 platty fry and 10 balloon mollie fry

I'm currently cyling another tank to put the new fish in until they are big enough to take to my LFS.

Tank size is 110ltrs all stats are good,

Stocking of Platties, BalloonMollies, Glowlight tetras, Black Neons, Corys, Male Guppies and a BN.

Many thanks in advance,

Mark.

i would say with those fish in the tank the fry would be pretty much safe at 1.5 - 2 cm, it wouldn't be a supprise if you would get a fair few survivors if you never removed them from the tank. platies can be quite boisterous and they would be the only worry in my eyes, just let them get to at least 1.5 cm and get a bit of strength and they should be fine!

I'm hoping my new tank isn't that far away from being cycled as 30 fry at 1cm in a 15cmx15cmx15cm net is gonna get pretty cramped real quick.

well if you have a good amount of plants and other hiding places the fry should be well enough developed at 2 n a half weeks to stand a good chance of survival. i guess its your decision at the end of the day but keep your fish well fed and they should pretty much leave the fry alone.
