i have a 110litre tank with jewell cichlids ( red forest ) FRY, i have about 300 of them in there at the moment, i know that when they get bigger i will need to remove some, how many FRY should i have in my 110litre fry grow out tank...?

Feed live brine shrimp, they will make them grow fast and gain their colors quicker!

Both of the filters will be fine, but if you go for the pump, then be sure to cover the intake with the sponge. To make them grow quick you should feed them nutritious foods like grindal worms, tubiflex, brine shrimp etc. and you could also set the temperature to as high as they can tolerate.

With a bare tank you really shouldn't be stocking more than 120 1/2" fry, sixty 1" fry, or forty 1 1/2" fry. I would start with at least one large 4" cube sponge filter, air powered. I've found that with fry below 1/4" box filters can be a hazard, they tend to get trapped & can't fight the current. That's a pretty heavy stocking rate, and nothing to try to exceed, as with that stocking 50% water changes weekly would be needed.

Pick up any cheap magnifying glass so you can keep a good eye on development, if you see any chopping of fins or other signs of deformity reduce stocking or increase water changes.
