hey,

my baby guppy is in a brreding trap, does anyone know how long till i can out it in my community tank, also when my female had this baby it only had one that i know of any idea's i think that they could have been eaten?

Yes they accually could have been eaten.
The baby i might want to wait at least a month or untill it is bigger than the other fishes mouths.
I have one baby swordtail in my breeder trap and im goiing to realese it into my tank when it is like 2 months old i think.

oh thanks, its 3 weeks old now, also how old are they when they get theyre colours?

I would say 2 months is a bit too long to keep baby swordtails in a breeding trap; they need a bit of space to move around, otherwise their growth might slow down. I would release the guppy after 3 or 4 weeks, but make sure the tank has plenty of hiding places. The risk of it being eaten is a lot less now, as it will be better at swimming and getting away. Baby platies and guppies are relatively helpless creatures for the first week or so, I'm finding my wilder livebearers (portholes and ticos) seem a lot more together from day one.

Hey Guppyboy.

Glad you asked that question as we have a far few fry now that were born yesterday, all guppies so we will be getting another tank set up for them as there won't be enough room in the big tank. She had 41!! Bless her. We also rescued a baby, platy I think, about 5 days ago and she/he is doing great. At least I know when we can release her/him without it becoming fish food!

Good luck with yours

Charlie
