So...my jewels have about fifty fry that just appeared out of nowhere! anyways, I have a qt tank that I can put them in, do i just use a regular net to remove them? If so, when is it safe to do so?

Yeah they will uinless you seperate them.

I have yellow labs and rusties. They haven't had any babies yet, but the lfs said if they did, they would be fine in the tank (55 gal) and I wouldn't have to separate them. So is this not true? I've got a 10 gal that I could use as a fry tank if/when the time came...

In order for the largest number of fry to live, you should put the holding female in to the other tank before she spits, then feed her up a bit and move her back to the 55. However, some fry will most likely survive if you leave her in the 55 and let nature take it's course. If your able to, I would move her, it's less stress on her and she'll stay in better condition.
