Hi again....

Bit of excitement here.....she who holds the purse strings has today bought me a AquaOne 320 as a fry tank to compliment my AquaOne 850. see photo.

Setting it up I have used sand as it is my ambition to change my main tank to sand. I am going to use this small tank as a fry holding tank. Not that I wish to become a breeder, it's just that aesthetically I don't like using a breeding trap in my main tank. Nor do I like my fish to over-feed on fry. I do have a source of passing on this fry so I thought what the heck!

Ok, so to the point of this post.......In between fry living in this tank, I quite like the idea of having a couple of perminant residents to keep the filters alive that do not gorge on fry, baring in mind it's only a 28ltr capacity.

The LFS suggested "Pigmy Corys". Anyone have info on such a creature? Also they said they are ok in 2-3, unlike corys in general.....T or F?

Presuming they exsist are they a good choice or is there a better option ....Over to you guys!

yea im sure 4 of them would be fine :)

they are tiny :) (and very cute)

We had a group of 20 in with our zebs and one thing you need to think about s that they will breed to :)

we now have quite a few small ones nipping about.

they are quite a shy fish, if you have plants etc in the tank they will hide.

I'd say you'll need a lot more than 2-4 to keep the filter going though ;)
as they arnet much bigger than fry themselves!

pygmy cories would be a good option for tanks like yours, they will still need caves and other hidy-holes to feel safe. a group of 4 -6 would be good.as for creatures to keep the filter alive, an apple snails. they are hugh waste producer so should produce plenty of waste.

Sounds great to me.....it's a 28ltr and on the most part will have dozens of fry in there. So how many Pigmy Corys would be happy in there full time?....Do you have any? photos?
