When we bought the fish we thought we would leave everything to mother nature as far as fry were concerned , we didnt realise how much guppys and swordtails give birth lol and how easy they survive

how do we go about setting up a little 1 or 2 foot fry tank , does it need filters etc? does it need to cycle for 36 days? what temperature should it be ,etc etc

First, congrats on all the fry :D

A fry tank should have a filter, and most suggest a sponge filter since the fry can't be sucked into it. There's a DIY sponge filter in the DIY section...The temp of the tank should be a bit warmer so the fry will grow faster, between 78-82F

I don't know much about cycling with sponge filters, but you should be able to take some filter media from the tank you already have and place it in the sponge filter so you won't have to cycle. But, since I don't know that much on this subject, I'll let someone else give you the info you need on this :D

If you do use the sponge filter be sure you attach it to the tank so that it does go to the bottom and catch little fry under it. You can easily attach the filter with a clothspin.
