Fry Tank

Well today came another order of Doctors Foster and Smith for me :D . One thing I invested which I think is great is Baby Nursery for live bearers. It is great. It has a Built-in Filter which takes water from the outside unit and makes a filtered water flow inside :hey: . Thanks Annastasia I know I did the right thing for my guppy. Thanks for clearing up that Swordtails and Guppy cant breed. I though the storeing of sperm only work for Swordtails. Well I learned something. Thanks :good: :good:

Well today I was cleaning my filter and I found a guppy fry in the filter alive :hyper: . It was there for 3 days and I dont know how a fry lived without eating for that long. I finally moved the fry into the fry tank and they are more happy than ever :D . I put floating plants for them to hide if they want to. Also a litte sand castle decor'. I have a question how can you have chemical filtration or anything that does the same as chemical filtation in a fry tank? :fish:
I am thinking to put activated carbon(will it harm fry). But want peoples advice first before doing so.

Well I bought a red cherry shrimp for my fry tank. I want him to help clean my fry tank. I read that it is ok for a red cherry shrimp to be in a fry tank. It is a little more than half an inch. I bought Alpalpha Sprouts for the shrimp. Is it ok for him to eat that. Also is it ok to feed that to the fishes in my main tank.

Ive used shrimps in my fry tanks before and it worked a treat although i fed a litle extra for him :)

Alfalfa sprouts for shrimp? Never heard of that one before. You could try it in your main tank, just take out the uneaten parts, otherwise it will foul your water quickly.

Shrimp can be okay in fry tanks. I've heard horror stories of them eating small fry, but I've also heard success stories. Just keep an eye on them, and count fry daily.
