my 40l fry tank currently has a BN in it and loads of livebearers and im hoping in 2-3 months time the livebearers are old enough to be given to my lfs and the Bn will hopefully be big enough for the main tank.

but when the fry do get given away would the 40l be big enough for the 2 GBR to breed in if its just them in there?

i was hoping for at least 1 successful spawn of fry from them and then the tank may be turned into a little community tank to split the main tanks occupants up a bit

cheers any help would be great

i think 40L would be too small to be honest, i asked a similar question the other day (would a 56L be ok) and i was pushing it at that!

10g is a bit small, even for just the two, if they are a breeding pair then dont forget the space the babies would require too, plus where would you put the babies when they needed removing before the next batch came along? Keep the 40L for raising the fry as they will need to be removed before the pair breed again as the babies become a threat to the new babies and so on and so forth......

20g is the recommended minimum for a pair of rams, although you can play around a little with this, I think 10g under is pushing it too much.

i was thinking of having just the one batch so when the fry were old enough for the parents to be moved i would move the parents back out of it. so basicaly all taht would be in the tank would be the 1 batch of fry until they are old enoughto be sold on to the lfs.
