 In our community tank, two of the Mollies have given birth.

We isolated a small number to start with, but the others had plenty of hiding places and so we are now left with around 40 Molly fry who are about 6 days old.

They are in a 100L tank with a coupla small synos, 3 zebra loaches, 8 adult mollies and 10 neons.

My questions are:

1) Will this number of fry worry or stress the other fish? (at the moment some of them think they are neons and are swarming with them  )

2) Has anyone had any success in trading their fry with their LFS?

3) What do you people do with all your "spares" ?

Thanks all........... B)

1. My Mollies have done that, like there ignoring the fry,I sometimes think they don't even see them. I don't believe it will stress the other fish.
2. After my fry gets over 1" in lenth I take a bunch to the LFS and trade them for mershandise, Mollies I get 2 dollars a piece and Guppies and platies I get 1 dollar a piece for them.
3. I really don't know what u mean by "spares"

Well you need to decide if you're gonna keep the spares, give them away or take them to na lfs. Then there will be no spares.

Excellent responses thank you.

I did wonder whether the lfs would be innundated with people giving away fry, and would turn me away.......these things just don't seem to stop reproducing...... :D

thats true but many times people just let the fry run around and only a few make it b/c the had them in a comm. tank .............. wear as i am getting ready to have a batch of sword fry (my first batch) and i will hopefully have plenty of survivers and keep a few fem. and send the rest to the LFS for merchendise (i hope) GOOD LUCK :)
