Well my Platies are having loads of babies and now that they are getting older they all look like females. A friend of mine said that most Platy fry are female. Is this true? They all look female.

I don't know what the tim is, but the ability to distinguish fry as males is not as immediate as one might think. I've read about people that are surprised when their females turn out to be males.

i think all fry start out female for the first week or two

hmm, it's been more than two weeks and they all still look female? Well I read on some other post that they look female first then become males...

I'm always being surprised by "females" turning into males, after I've separated them. I think some males are just late developers.

Our platties are about 3 weeks and can not see what sex they are. With them being smaller fish, would it take longer for us to notice the males from the females so have to wait till they are older???!!

When I've read about fish starting female and then can change to male (is it swordys??) do they grow a gonopdium or do they just change sex? Our female is not bugged by the male at all and has never had babies.

the male could be a gay fish lol... well i suppose i will just wait and see....

I'm not sure about platties but I had 2 sword fry at 3 months one started changing to a male while the other looked female. Just 2 weeks ago just shy of 6 months the other started changing to male also. Just wait a while spme change early while others bloom late.
