Ive noticed that of my 10 surviving molly fry 8 are female.
Is this just a one-off or do more females than males get born/survive?

How old are they? Are you sure you don't have some late-developers?

It's possible it's very one-sided. I've had batches of Platies where they are all male. I wouldn't say there's a likelihood that one sex will always come out on top though. :) I HAVE read a few articles, though, that say more males will tend to come out of a batch if the pH is in the 5-6 range. I'm not sure if that is even true, but if you have a higher pH, perhaps it got reversed.

Hi Annastasia
They must be 7 or 8 weeks old now and they are all real bruisers-no runts.Guess it must have been the luck of the draw.
Thanks

7-8 weeks isn't that old, really, in terms of sexing. It's possible you may get some late-developing males, or you may not. I guess you'll have to wait and see! :)
