Everyone keeps saying that it is bad to put my livebearers in a breeding trap. Ive only used it once before because i had just bought the fish and she started giving birth by i have had no new deliveries. Everyone says to just leave the babies in the big tank. Of course I know there is a good chance that my fish will eat some or many. I have a few patches of artificial baby grass and multiple other plants. But I dont know how i would feed the babies in the big tanks. How could I feed them without the other fish taking notice? How would I clean my tank? Would the get sucked up by the filter? I would like to cause my mother fish the least amount of stress but idk how to save the fry.

My platies have had babies in the big tank and yea some do get eaten but a lot of them survived. Just make sure they have plenty of places to hide. Don't worry about feeding them. They will feed off of the food that falls to the bottom. Sometimes I would crush some food up really good, like into powder and they did pretty well. Let me know if this helps!

Oh yea and when cleaning the tank you have to keep a good eye on your tube. If you see a baby swimming in the tube stop the flow until he swims out. And they will pretty much stay away from the filter

Thanks! Im going to try to spot the birth and see if i can net them first. But if that doesnt happen at least i can try to keep them in the big tank.

good luck, let me know how it turns out, usually they will stay by the heater when they are giving birth, I always fed my fish when I spotted her giving birth so she wouldn't eat the babies...
