so my platy just had babies 2 days ago and i still have them in the breeding net becuase im scared that the other fish will eat them. should i take them out? she didnt have many only like 9 and she ate 4 of them. so should i take them out will they get eaten? im really nervous about that i really dont want to put them in danger.

You can let them out when the fry won't fit into the biggest fish mouth in your tank. They should be ok in there for a while yet.Just keep feeding often and little and try to keep their net as clean as you can.

k thanks! what kind of food do they prefer right now im just feeding them crushed flakes but i dont think they taking to it really

Well crush flakes is good but theres food specifically for fry out there. Here are some links to foods I commonly feed my fry.

Also here are some of the other baby fish(fry) foods.

I used Hikari foods because they are among one of the best fish foods available out there. But they can be rather pricey.

thanks! around here they actually dont have anything for little fry or brine shrimp for some reason. but thanks a lot!!! :thanks:

In the first couple days you may not see your fry eat. They have a little bit of leftover yolk sack. They will pick up on flakes if that is all you have.

Well if you live in the in the united states then you can order those foods via mail. But frozen foods they charge you a ridiculous amount of money to deliver since they have to package it in a special way so it can be delivered frozen. So I would only buy dry fish foods for the fry on those links I gave you. Its to bad they do not sell any of those foods around where you live.

yeah it makes it difficult. but nothing i cant manage! lol yeah all my lfs really dont know crap about fish at all. i have tested them all. asked about fishless cycling they asked me whats that. its pretty bad. so all my advice i get here.

Same here most of the fish store near where I live know nothing about fishes. You can ask them any basic question and they do not know the answer. They do not know how to sex any fish whatsoever. I have to go about 12 miles to go to my LFS. But at least that local fish store has a huge selection of fishes and has a very knowledgeable staff.
