My sunset platy gave birth last night.....YIPPEE!!....I have been waiting for her fry for ages....I only managed to catch 3 from the breeding net (a few escaped between me discovering them and me catching them).....one of them I allready now the father.....it has a tail suspiciously like my male red twinbar :p The other possible fathers are a white platy and a yellow/white twinbar platy.

So now I have 3 newborn platy fry,2 2-week old swordy fry and 3 5-week old guppy fry.....AKKK!! Babies everywhere....

SOOOO cute though

good for u :) . have u ever considered becoming a fish breeder and selling them to ur lfs? u could make some $$$ of it.

Congrats Angry

i just became the proud fish keeper of over 50 Swordtail fry  They are just the cutest things

U didn;t try to catch the escapees? Did they get eaten :-( ?

Well anyway, good luck with all ur fry!

Erm,I came home this afternoon to no platy fry in the enclosure I had put the three in :(
It appears they were too small and could squeeze out. I did manage to save one which had become trapped between the breeding trap and the tank glass....not the one with the black on it unfortunately. I have a lot of plants in the tank so hopefully the others are smart enough to hide till they are big enough not to be eaten. The lone baby is in a net-type trap in the 30gal. He/she looks lonely on its own so I might move some of the swordy fry over with it.

Soo sad they escaped :(

So happy I rescued one :)

owwww what a shame well at least u caught 1 and u never no in a couple of months time u might see 2 new fish swimming around the tank.
hope u have fun raising the little fellow

Good luck with your remaining fry :) im sure though if you have mixed gender group of platys though you'll be sure to get some more in a months time
