I kinda fell into MTS and it is frustrating. :( All I really wanted at the time was a bigger tank, but I saw a good deal and couldn't pass it up. :/ I really had no clue. I bought 5 tanks with 1 filter, 2 hoods w/ lights, 4 strip lights, and 2 heaters.

Little did I know..... :S

Add in 4 more heaters (1 broke), 5 filters (I haven't gotten the whisper working. :/), lighting because I wanted planted, substrate, fertilizer, and on, and on, and on, and on......

Then add in fish, plants, etc... I do have to thank Bangin, from here, Off-Ice from Plantgeek, and Lotus from Plantgeek for there help on getting plants for cheap.

But that sure doesn't help on all the other stuff. :/ I'm writing this primarily because I'm hoping some of the newbies won't get sort of decieved like I did in a sense. Buying used tanks is great, but a tank is a tank. If it doesn't include anything else remember to figure in the additional costs.

I almost wish I had just bought the 80G I was looking at prior to finding these. I know I will probably be happier in the end when they are all setup, but ..............

Well, that was my rant for the day. :grr:

Don't worry. I'm sure that once your tank is all set up, you won't regret it. How big is this tank now?

There really is no cheap way in this hobby.

I once bought a second hand but "as new" external filter for £30 just for the canister and powerhead, little did i realise that once i added on the cost of the hoses, fittings and media the filter actually cost me more than it would have to pick up a brand new complete one from the shelf.

The "tanks" I bought then are:
55 Gallon x 2
45 Gallon Long
29 Gallon
10 Gallon

CFC, I've noticed the same thing about watching the used stuff. :/ Can end up costing just as much as new....
