Frustrated With New Tetratec Ex700

OK, so i have a juwel vision 180 tank and i bought a brand new tetratec ex700 for it last week. Its been leaking from the start, i called the shop i got it from and they said to vaseline the o ring, i did this and its still leaking, approx half lire an hour! So, tomorrow i am phoning them and telling them to come and collect it and refund me, ive been soaked far too many times to want a replacement of the same filter, so, can anyone suggest another filter i shouuld get? Should i just go for an internal one? its 180 litres.

ring tetratec up & they will send you a new part to fix it, I think it is the hose connector - free of charge - as they know it is a problem.

If this doesnt work, ring back and they will send you a new motorhead free of charge,

If the filter was from a shop (not second hand or a private seller), then you can just go direct to them and they have to replace it (sales of goods act) as the item is not fit for purpose.

the warehouse is in germany so it takes 3-5days to come.

Cheers for the reply Aaron, ill just send it back to the shop i bought it from, only purchased it a week ago and was delivered on Tuesday. To be honest a company sending out faulty goods that could be a number of things, i'd rather buy a different filter. What can you suggest?

Ex700 arent usually affected, it is mainly the Ex1200 - When i bought one it was 2nd hand off ebay, so I was expecting it.

As a replacement, Fluval 205 or 305. They have always served me well.
They do feel cheap compared to eheim & tetra but they work fine. SOme complain of poor priming, however I have had 3 fluval externals (different tanks) and each one has performed perfectly.

Eheim are good quality, but they are expensive.

Thank you, i think id quite like to get just the standard filter for the juwel vision 180 - you know where i can buy one ? i have one in my juwel rio 240 and its running great.

its been setup in my tank 4 4weeks n it still looks murky
