Hi all,
Quick question, was just feeding my fish some frozen bloodworms when I realized the package I have says guaranteed min protein 6.0 percent...Maybe a silly question but I thought they were supposed to be very high in protein content? Thanks, just kinda bothering me....

hi, il take a look at mine in a sec and see what they say.

mine say min protien 4.5%.
that might just be because there frozen in blood. idk really.
what brand are you using?

I think its Hikari :good: I am sure there is some explanation I am just really curious...Anyone have any ideas?

They are generally considered a high protein food, the reason why the percentage is low is because the worms have a lot of water in them per worm. They have more protein than most other critters though none the less. Fish do not need a massive amount of protein to do very well on it, bloodworms make a healthy high protein food for many types of fish.

As mentioned, bloodworms are high in protein so they should not be a regular food but instead a special treat. Bettas in particular can develop swim bladder/constipation problems from too many bloodworms.

Never said I feed them this on a regular basis, Thanks for the warning nonetheless.
