So i brought some froxen bloodworm today as a treat for my betta, and i was just wondering what exactly you are supposed to do with them, do you thaw them out first in hot water, and them wash them or something? or do you just put it straight in (i doubt that)

Also, would i be able to give them to my goldfish and comets as treats?

You can put it straight in. But what I do (and I'm sure many other fishkeepers do) is get a cup of tank water and put the frozen food in there to thaw, then once it thaws pour it into the tank.

I place into a fish net and rinse under a tap until thawed then in it goes. A little tip for anyone feeding hatchet fish with frozen bloodworm, using a pair of tweezers single bloodworm can be suspended using the waters natural surface tension. Thus you can treat your hatchets as they will not go down for such food.

a full cube seems like a lot for a betta.
what i do is drop mine into a shot glass of tank water to let thaw then pour into the tank, this way my frogs and ghosties are sure to get some.

Yeh it is quite a lot, I use about a third of a full cube for...

2x Blue Rams
5x Kuhli Loaches
1x Koi Angelfish
2x Scarlet Badis
2x Ghost Catfish

I take about 3-4 cubes out of their packets, break them up into 3 bits then put them into a plastic food tub in the freezer.

Matt :good:

Ah, ok thanks for the tips, i was thinking that the cube looks a little big for just one fish.

What about the goldfish and comets, would they enjoy the bloodworm as well?

Goldfish and comets won't refuse anything really  ..... yes, they definitely will enjoy them but only feed them bloodworms from time to time.
