i have just been to my lfs and brought frozen bloodworm for my fish, no problems there how much to feed and how often all taken care of.
The problem i have is how do you do it? They are in cubes in a blister packet, do you defrost - if so how?

thanks in advance

Some people put them in a small dish of aquarium water and then pour them in once they have defrosted, others like myself just drop a cube or two in and let the feast begin.

About 5 bloodworms per fish is good for small fish. An easier way to judge how many bloodworms your fish can handle is based on how long your fish take to eat them all- there should be no bloodworms lying around on the bottom of the tank after a couple of minutes, if there are you are probably feeding them too much. Feeding small quantities every minute or so is better than feeding one huge lot all at once.

Most of your fish are insectivores, frozen bloodworms make a good hugh protein food for your fish. You can really feed them as often as you like to your fish as long as you keep their diet varied (and make sure you get some veg into it) and feed them other types of foods as well, as too many high protein foods and not much else in a fishes diet can make fish constipated. Because of this, i would personally feed frozen bloodworms every other day maximum to help make sure you have enough mealtimes for your fish to make sure you can feed them other things too  .

I generally put the frozen cubes into an eggcup full of aquarium water & swill it around for about 30 secs than in it goes. If I'm in a hurry I pop them direct into the tank (the only trouble with that is that the bigger greedier fish grab the whole cube by a worm and hog it, defrosting a bit just shares them out a bit fairer)

I just drop mine in there, they usually defrost pretty quickly in the tank water. My Oscar always grabs the first cube for himself but then runs and hides while he gobbles it down, so then I drop a couple more blocks for the other fish.
