Well i sold my Discus last week and i must admit that it was sad to see them go but i fancied something a bit different and this morning i just took charge of 16 juvenille Frontosas from Trimar Aquatics in Cornwall. I must say that if anyone is worried about ordering fish online give them a try, these have arrived well packed and are very lively little charachters.
My plan now is to grow them on and as i determine the males to whittle them out to eventually just leave 1 alpha male in with the females. I saw a 4 inch frontosa in a LFS last week and really liked it but they were wanting £40 for it, my 16 juvenilles were a fiver each so i think i have done okay. Anyone else have any experience with these fish?

Congratulation Paul :good:

If I had the space, time and finances I would love to set up a large colony of frontosas. What species of frontosas did you get and can you give a brief description of the setup that you have them in! I also think that £5 pounds per fish is a bargain in anybodies book!

Here are a couple of pictures form www.malawicichlidhomepage.com of a frontosas tank that I would like to emulate. I think the fish look amazing and the light really brings out the colouration.

Hells bells they are amazing fish and what an incredible tank. I see they have used coral sand which looks incredible, i was told that i should leave my silver sand in and just add a little fine gravel. I have put in rockwork which is the light stuff, forget the name of it to be honest but it is supposed to just increase the pH a little and i have set it out very similar to that in the pics. What stone is that which has been used there? it really is stunning and sets everything off with the sand and colour of the fish. Have i been given the wrong advice here?
I see they have stuck just with the Frontosas and i think that is a good decision. My guys have settled in fine and one thing i find amazing is that when they are asleep they actually lay on the substrate. Anything else you can tell me would be a bonus, thankyou so very much.
