i just purchased a frontosa on sunday he (or she) is about 4." I have him right now in a tank with a gold tiger datnoid about the same size as maybe a little bit smaller than him and an archer fish. the frontosa has not been eating and im not quite sure why - intimidated maybe? I do water changes weekly and just had my water tested and everything appeared to be fine - no nitrate, chlorine, ammonium, etc. pH levels are at about 7.3-7.5 which i have been told was the best thing to do to have it set in the middle for the datnoid and frontosa. I dont think the archer fish is intimidating him because he has actually been chased around by the frontosa lately. I think it may be the datnoid. it looked like they had a hard time adjusting to eachother - it has gotten better and i rarely see them snap or anything but of course i am not home during the day to watch and can only observe at night. I tried feeding him freeze dry shrimp, veggie flakes (which is what i was told he was eating at the store), cichlid pellets, guppies, etc. tonight i think he may have eaten one or two of the shrimps without spitting it back out and he had a few cichlid pellets but after maybe the third or fourth the started to spit them out again. Aside from tonight, everything he ate came right back out. I also noticed that he was going up for air i dont know if he was missing the food and just getting air or if it was intentional - does this mean he cuold be stressed? one last thing, when he ate the pellets tonight it looked like he was burping up air bubbles, is that normal? Please help me!
