Frontosa Info

There is a fish index in our forum you can go check it out :). Frontosa is from african lake and they were found in deep water area usually 150-200 ft under water. Male can grow up to 18" in wild and female 10"+ in wild. Like most african cichlid they tend to like a higher ph a ph of 8.5 -9 is best for them. The tank of ur should atleast be 125g inorder for them to have enought space to swim, and the tank should have planty of rock/cave for female to hide. Generally male kept in home aquarium should have no problem getting to 12" if giving care. They r very peaceful fish that dont tend to bother other cichlid in similar size and agreesion. Best to keep in species tank which can be alot more easier to take care of as well as breeding. Good luck to ya.

i have two frontosas they get pritty big they get to be about 12 to 15 in. Mine sceem to be kindda shy.

They are colony breeders, best in a group with one to three males and several females (depending on the size of the tank. 125 gallon, six foot tank is the minimum for these fish. Caves are good, but as clumsy fish that spook easily you'll want the tank with lots of open space also. And the tank needs to be kept in a quiet area.
